In a game between Gloucestershire and Sussex, Miles Hammond played a remarkable innings of 87* to take his team’s score to 248 in response to Sussex’s mammoth total of 455-5. Hammond carried his bat through the innings, showing excellent temperament and technique. However, Gloucestershire couldn’t repeat their first innings heroics in the second innings, and they only managed to avoid defeat due to the captain Graeme van Burren’s unbeaten knock of 55*.

Another exciting match took place between Leicestershire and Glamorgan at Grace Road.
